“Fierce Tidings: On Rage and Hope” invites contemporary Asian American and Asian Diasporic artists to draw from their experiences of personal or external events relating to injustice and trauma which may bring to the fore mixed feelings of rage and hope. As the stereotype of the ‘Model Minority’ paints Asians in mainstream media as both a successful yet a subdued and docile group, it robs the community of its own voice for affirmation of identity, passion, ability, contribution, mobilization, healing, resistance, strength, integrity, and fellowship. Art is often on the frontline in any movement, and artists often take on this mantle to serve as messenger to make spaces for empowerment - in expression, emotion, cultural celebration and vision for the future”
