Changing seasons herald a changing of the guard at a California peach farm famed for its organic heirloom fruit and visionary approach to environmental responsibility. Award-winning farmer and environmental writer David Masumoto’s parents purchased a plot of poor, drought-prone land dirt cheap following their release from a WWII internment camp. Over more than half a century, the family transformed the undesirable acreage into model orchards through innovative methods and conservation. Now facing a health crisis, David mentors his feminist daughter Nikiko, a Berkeley grad, to become a third generation farmer.
