For those who are already acquainted with the YouTube beauty community, then well-known names such as such Michelle Phan (MichellePhan), Promise Phan (Dope2111), and Jenn Im (ClothesEncoutners) should come of no surprise. Each with over a million subscribers, these YouTube beauty gurus, as they are refereed to on the online community, have helped to diversify the beauty and fashion industry to include Asian Americans who have often been underrepresented in American popular culture.
With the abundance of beauty YouTubers that seem to grow in number each day, it can be overwhelming for those who are in search of a specific style. If you’re ever in need to refresh your subscription feed with talented makeup gurus and fashionistas aside from the usual most subscribed list, I’ve gathered a few Asian American YouTube personalities that offer some sage advice when it comes to the beauty world. With less than 250,000 subscribers, these YouTubers may not have yet achieved the Forbes-level status of Michelle Phan, but they are just as flawless when it comes to the beauty game. Take a look below if you’re ever in need of some tips and tricks, curious about a new product, or are still trying to figure out the difference between contouring and strobing:
The Makeup Glam Squad:
Full glam and fabulous, Irene Mahmud Khan (GeekChic01) should be on top of everyone’s list for that “YASS!” moment. Probably one of the most popular personalities on the list, and my personal go to for a dramatic look, she experiments with varying colors and techniques and fully embraces the magic of makeup. She may be a bit overwhelming for beginners, but once you achieve her level of expertise, then you know you’re on fleek!

The Fashionistas
Amy Lee (VagabondYouth) is laid back and witty with a serious Cali vibe. She’s like that one friend who always keeps it real and inspires others to do the same. She pairs neutral colors with a casual edge, and doesn’t overcomplicate her fashion choices. Her minimal looks incorporate basic pieces that can be added to any wardrobe to add that extra edge.
